Teofilów
A knitted fabric shop that stays fast and stable under heavy traffic
Home page
Teofilów is a Łódź-based maker of knitted and woven fabrics sold by the metre. I sped up and expanded its shop of over 250 products without interrupting sales.
Knitted fabric category page
The category has a short description of the fabric, filters and sorting, and each pattern comes with a photo, price and basket button, so customers can buy straight from the list.
Product page priced per metre
The price per running metre, length selection and availability sit right next to the basket button, and further down customers find specifications and other colours and patterns of the same fabric.
Colour swatches with magnifier
Swatches made from real photos and a magnifier for the weave help customers choose a colour, and the length, set in half-metre steps, goes into the basket without reloading the page.
Teofilów is a Łódź-based manufacturer of knitted and woven fabrics sold by the metre, with more than 250 products in its online shop. I analysed what was slowing the shop down, protected it against harmful bot traffic and added new features within the existing platform. The home page opens in a fraction of a second, even under heavy traffic, and product pages on mobile are up to 38 times lighter.

01Challenge
The shop has more than 250 products, whose pages downloaded a great deal of data on mobile, with content shifting as they loaded. At the end of August, a surge in bot traffic pushed the home page load time up to 24 seconds. The shop had to be made faster, secured and developed further within the existing platform, without interrupting sales.
02Solution
- I analysed the shop on a full copy, cleaned it up and reduced the number of add-ons from 26 to 14 by moving their functions into the theme.
- I reduced the size of product pages and stabilised their layout, so mobile customers download up to 38 times less data and the content stays in place.
- I designed a colour swatch tool based on real photos, with a magnifier for the weave, that lets customers add the length they need to the basket without opening the product page.
- I built a firewall that stops harmful traffic but lets search engine crawlers through, so the shop remains stable even under heavy load.
