PublicRelations.pl
A PR portal that loads 3 times faster on mobile
Home page
PublicRelations.pl is a PR and communication portal with almost 9,000 posts. After an audit, I rolled out fixes and tools that reduce the editors’ manual work.
Article with cropped banner
The editors crop the banner separately for desktop and mobile, so the most important part of the photo stays in frame whatever the screen width.
Category post list
The post list loads in batches of 30 and ads have reserved space, so the text does not shift while you read.
PublicRelations.pl is an industry portal about PR and communication with almost 9,000 posts, from news to job listings and agency directories. I started with an audit of security, speed and search visibility, then rolled out fixes in stages, testing each one on a copy of the site and, after deployment, on 29 key URLs. The home page now loads more than three times faster on mobile, ads no longer shift the text, and the editorial team has less manual work.

01Challenge
The portal ran on an outdated version of its content management system. On mobile, the home page showed its most important content only after 17 seconds, category pages loaded thousands of posts at once, and ads shifted the text while people were reading. The site had to be made faster and cleaned up without interrupting the editorial team’s work.
02Solution
- I carried out an audit and rolled out the fixes in stages, testing each one on a copy of the portal and, after deployment, on 29 URLs, so as not to disrupt the editorial team’s work.
- I created tools for the editorial team, including a button that cleans up text pasted from Word and automatic publishing of new posts on Facebook and LinkedIn.
- I set up post lists to load in batches of 30 with a “Show more” button, so readers no longer wait for a category to download thousands of articles.
- I gave ads fixed slots with a reserved height, so the text does not shift when an ad loads.
